Bushcraft Summer Camps
Summer 2012

I am pleased to offer Bushcraft Summer Camps during the school summer holidays this year. These are offered in partnership with on the Ashridge Estate, the National Trust.

Each Camp is a 3-day course that will cover at least 2 different topics each day, and will build up to cover a solid foundation of outdoor knowledge for your child. The course if what I call "linear": we travel around the woods each day learning as we go. My aim is to show differences in the landscape and where to find different resources as we go: much as our ancestors would have done! Over the 3 days I will teach the following: -

• Shelter Building
• Fire Lighting without matches
• Cooking Outdoors
• Flint: Tools & uses
• Knife safety
• Tree & Plant ID - medicines, foods, uses
• Navigation
• Tracking Animals
• Looking after yourself away from civilisation!

Summer Camp dates for 2012 are as follows: -

• Tue 31st Jul - Thu 2nd Aug
• Tue 7th - Thu 9th Aug

Both courses will run at the Ashridge Estate

Time span: 9.00am - 4.30pm each day. Come dressed for a day in the outdoors with a day pack, a packed lunch/snacks, water (at least 1 litre), and suitable clothing /footwear. Gardening gloves are useful. All tools & equipment required will be provided.

Location: The Ashridge Estate - National Trust.

Places Available: up to 8 only per session!

Suitable for ages: 8-14.

Cost: £35 child/day or £95/child for the 3 days (same as 2011!)

Children who complete all 3 days will each receive a Certificate of Attendance
