Fire & Bread Making

We start with a brief safety talk, before we take a walk over to a quieter part of the wood where I will explain about fire, how it is important to us, and how to lay out and light it: taking care to show respect to the environment. Having shown the children different natural tinder materials suitable for firelighting. I will then light a small fire and show how we would build it to cook on, and how it does not need to be too big. Whilst the fire is getting ready for cooking, the children will make up some simple bread doughs (these can be flavoured with dried herbs or spices as desired). Then we will twist our doughs onto "green" sticks, before baking over the hot coals till ready to eat, we will also toast some marshmallows too! The children will get to help clear the fire away afterwards: to understand that 'leaving no trace' it is part of the respect we show to the environment.

IMPORTANT: Please let me know if any of your intended guests have any food allergies or intollerances when you come to book this activity.

This activity suits ages 5+ years.

Time span: 1 hour (usually): depending on what you wish. It could be combined with another activity, to make an activity of 1.5 hours.

Group size: 5 (min) to 20 children. (With 1 adult for every 5 children.)

Cost
£100 for a 1 hour activity; £150 for a 1.5 hour activity

Groups over 20 in number can be booked by arrangement (to a maximum of 25). Please Note: there is an additional charge of £5 per extra child, per hour of activity.

Sessions generally last for 1 hour, but I am always happy to put together a longer activity to suit your requirements: this is your day, I will work with you to make it really special. Please contact me if you have a query.
