Mini Beast Hunting Parties
We start with a brief safety talk, before we take a short walk through an area of bluebells to a large stand of fir trees where there are plenty of logs, leaves and branches to look underneath. I will explain to the group how we are going to go about this: using magnifying bug-pots to view our mini beasts. There is a great emphasis on taking care to respect the creatures we find and their habitats. The aim is to introduce your group to the differences between different mini beasts. Children will be asked to put everything back as they found it at the end of this activity, teaching them to be good stewards of the environment. (This activity proves very popular with supporting parents and even grandparents too!)
This activity suits ages 4 - 7 years.
Time span: 1 hour, depending on what you wish. It will be combined with a look at Nature's medicine chest & supermarket (as time permits).
Group size: 5 (min) to 20 children. (With 1 adult for every 5 children.)
Cost
£100 for a 1 hour activity (this would have time to focus on 1-2 topics e.g. shelter building and a fire lighting demonstration.)
£150 for a 1.5 hour activity (this might include shelter building, a fire lighting demo and flint tools.)
Groups over 20 in number can be booked by arrangement (to a maximum of 25). Please Note: there is an additional charge of £5 per extra child, per hour of activity.
Sessions generally last for 1 to 1.5 hours, but I am always happy to put together a longer activity to suit your requirements: this is your day, I will work with you to make it really special. Please contact me if you have a query. |
