Shelter Building Parties
We start with a brief safety talk, before we head over into an area of fir trees where there are plenty of logs and branches to build with. I will explain to the group how we are going to go about this: giving some insights into why we build shelters, and what qualities they need to provide for us. The intention is to teach your group how to build a shelter to help you in a real-life survival situation: but done in a relaxed way. Team building skills form an integral part of this activity and I encourage this as much as possible, with each team building their own shelter. There is time at the end to check out how good the shelters are, take photos etc. (This activity proves very popular with supporting parents and even grandparents too!)
This activity suits ages 6+.
Time span: 1 -1.5 hours, depending on what you wish. It will be combined with a fire lighting demonstration, an introduction to flint and its various uses, plus a look at Nature's medicine chest & supermarket (if time permits).
Group size: up to 20 children. (With 1 adult for every 5 children.)
Cost
£120 for a 1 hour activity (this would have time to focus on 1-2 topics e.g. shelter building and a fire lighting demonstration.)
£180 for a 1.5 hour activity (this might include shelter building, a fire lighting demo and flint tools.)
Groups over 20 in number can be booked by arrangement (to a maximum of 25). Please Note: there is an additional charge of £6 per extra child, per hour of activity.
Sessions generally last for 1 to 1.5 hours, but I am always happy to put together a longer activity to suit your requirements: this is your day, I will work with you to make it really special. Please contact me if you have a query. |
